RedSand and Fluxite

RedSand marks the shift from surface sand mining to deeper, hotter biomes. Fluxite is the advanced upgrade currency grown from a botanical chain that requires RedSand at the mixing step — not from shakers or vague “refining” alone. Flowers drop Amethelis petals; Amethelis plus RedSand forms Voidbloom; Voidbloom fed to the sole Flux Emanator grows Fluxite below the building. Finding and mining RedSand

RedSand veins appear below the starter sand layers, often near Lava channels and Fire hazards. It is denser than Sand and Wet Sand, which means it falls through lighter piles in mixed columns—a blessing when Filters separate it, a curse when it sinks into gold chests.

Mine redsand with the same horizontal tunnel discipline as surface sand, but add heat protection. Flamethrower tools clear Ice blockages; misused fire near Soil or wooden structures spreads. Check Tools and Weapons Priority before deep digs.

Density relative to lava and gold

Community density charts place Lava between RedSand and Gold. That ordering tells you which materials sink when all four share a chute: gold floats to the top of a lava-redsand mix, while redsand sinks below gold but above sand. Use vertical drop columns with collection trays at different heights, or unlock filter tiers that target those bands.

Never dump raw redsand onto a Shaker expecting gold—shakers want Wet Sand from the standard sand-water loop (Sand and Wet Sand). Redsand feeds the Voidbloom mix and Fluxite chain, not direct shaker replacement.

Fluxite production overview

The full Fluxite loop:

  1. Flowers in Planter Boxes drop Amethelis (Flowers and Planters).
  2. Mix Amethelis + RedSandVoidbloom (Voidbloom and Amethelis).
  3. Feed Voidbloom to the Flux Emanator from above (Flux Emanator).

Community spreadsheets summarize a planning ratio: roughly two Sand, three Water, and four RedSand yielding about three Gold and eight Fluxite when slag burning is efficient (Material Ratios). RedSand is usually the bottleneck — not the emanator tile. Fluxite bottlenecks often trace to petal surplus with starved voidbloom mix, or unharvested crystals blocking growth.

Build a dedicated redsand intake belt feeding voidbloom mixers and filter stacks. Track Fluxite in a separate chest from Gold so research spending does not starve one currency silently.

Amethelis and Voidbloom logistics

Amethelis comes from Flowers, not as a shaker byproduct. Mix petals with RedSand to create Voidbloom before the Flux Emanator — do not route raw petals onto the emanator expecting Fluxite. Petal overflow is common when redsand mining lags flower farms; store Amethelis in wide bins or filter reject lanes (Voidbloom and Amethelis).

Treat overflow like slag: passive storage plus periodic clearing. Mixed Amethelis, Voidbloom, and Slag on one belt demands Filters — plan Conveyors and Launchers with enough width that haulers do not jam.

Synchronizing parallel lines

Redsand-fluxite chains fail when they steal water or filter capacity from the gold loop without planning. Run separate wetting headers where possible, or schedule redsand mining bursts during gold research downtime. Fluxite chests should sit beside gold storage so you notice when one currency stalls while the other grows—often a sign slag burn is lagging on the gold side, not redsand mine rate.

Early Access depth expectations

Demo seeds expose redsand as a teaser; EA on 2026-08-13 should push Lava and Fire hazards deeper alongside richer redsand veins. Bring Tools Priority heat gear before scaling fluxite belts into unknown terrain. Puzzle gates tied to artifacts may gate fluxite recipes—read map tooltips before assuming spreadsheet ratios apply unchanged.

Stocking fluxite before big research spends

Large research nodes can drain fluxite and gold in the same session. Keep one chest buffer of each currency so a single purchase never zeroes both. When fluxite rises but gold stalls, the bottleneck is almost always the shaker line—not redsand mining—so fix Gold and Slag before adding more redsand diggers.

Integrating with the gold loop

Mid-game factories run two synchronized lines: sand-water-shaker-gold-slag on one side, redsand-fluxite-amethelis on the other. Shared infrastructure—water pipes (Pipes and Pumps), drone pads, lighting—reduces duplicate builds.
